About Syracuse Gold Shop

Syracuse Gold Shop is a continuation of three generations in jewellery beginning with Rex Jewellers, opened by my grandparents on Smith Street in Collingwood, Melbourne in 1970. I grew up around jewellery, around pieces worn every single day, around gold that became part of the person wearing it. Syracuse Gold Shop came from wanting to bring that feeling back in my own way.

The brand sits somewhere between Greece and Italy. My heritage is Greek, the jewellery is handcrafted in Italy, and the name Syracuse felt like the natural meeting point between the two. Syracuse, the ancient city in Sicily, was originally founded by Greeks from Corinth, so although it’s Italian geographically, it carries a deep Greek history and influence. That relationship felt very simpatico with the brand and with me.

Syracuse Gold Shop returns to a more traditional way of buying and wearing gold. Each piece is handcrafted in Italy in solid 9 and 18-carat gold and produced in limited runs, with a focus on weight, quality and permanence. I’ve always been drawn to jewellery that feels lived in β€” pieces you sleep in, travel in and wear every day until they quietly become part of you.

The pieces are designed to move through life with you. Worn with a white tee and jeans, with swimwear, with a suit or with nothing at all. Never too polished, never too precious. I like jewellery that feels effortless, sturdy and slightly undone β€” pieces that become more beautiful the longer they are lived in, absorbing the energy of your life; the love, the intimacy, the celebrations and the chaos.

I hope you like it.
